A Portable Collection is a series of cyanotypes that record some of the curious things that visitors to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park carry with them. Over one weekend around 200 people visited the blue caravan studio. There they were able to watch as their wondrous things were recorded as cyanotypes. The resulting images show the variety of portable curiosities including an organza scarf, stencil letters, a favourite teddy, old family photo negatives, a corn doll made by a great-grandmother and lots of key rings.
A Portable Collection was developed for the exhibition Art Moves at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (September 2014). The collection was exhibited at The View Tube gallery space in the Olympic Park the following year. It is a parallel project to The Cabinet of Curiosities originally commissioned by Barratt Homes, managed by Artscape and supported by University Campus Suffolk.
