BIRD WATCHING

Bird Watching transforms the whole of Aspex Gallery, Portsmouth into a temporary bird sanctuary. One thousand plastic birds with rotator wings are suspended on fishing line throughout the space. Five fans are situated around the gallery to create air currents that animate the birds' wings. The fans are sequenced to turn on and off at different times of the day. There are twelve species of North American and British birds. An illustrated pocket guide to the exhibition encourages the visitors to identify the birds and to learn more about each species' characteristics.
